“TLC Cancer Apparel” was conceived 4 years ago. I had been diagnosed with breast cancer, had a mastectomy, and also had to go through chemotherapy. Being “bald,” I witnessed the stares from many adults, whether sympathetic, questioning or sort of frightened. Kids would just look, smile and go on their way.

While out with my family one day I made a comment about the looks I was getting with my bald head.  I tried wigs and turbans and found them unconfortable.  I mentioned how I would love to tell them “I’m not contagious…I’m just fighting cancer”. Right then Shawnte', my daughter, suggested having a hat made up saying just that. Rob, my husband, then suggested having a number of cancer slogans embroidered on hats and various clothing and selling them to my “chemo family” and giving 10% back to the survivors in anyway I can help, food, transportation, bills....

My company is starting out very small offering a few slogans and color choices in our hats for cancer patients, in the beginning. I will then add various other slogans and product choices to buy for yourself or as a gift for a special cancer patient in your life.

At this time I would like to thank my husband Rob, daughters Shawnte', Nicole & Brandi for all their love, encouragement, support & prayers.  Without you I wouldn't have made it this far.  I would also like to thank my dearest friend Sandy for her many words of wisdom, prayers, and cheering me on all the way. A big "Thank You" to Laurie Perkins of Bayside Photography for taking all the pictures for me. And finally, to my dear sister Marie for being out there promoting my product while I was still finalizing the website!!!
